Behind-the-Scenes: GMA 7 Unang Hirit Guesting!

So, the cat’s out of the bag – I can tell everyone I know that I was on GMA 7’s Unang Hirit last Tuesday morning! 😀

I am just so happy to share the experience. I’m not a movie star so being on TV is not a common thing for me. So when Unang Hirit contacted me, I was happy to oblige. To be honest, I had no idea what I would be doing, but I just said yes. Because who says no to a chance to be featured on TV? 😀

This is actually my second time to be on TV, the first one was on ANC Alerts with Lexi Schulze a few months ago. But it’s still exciting!

Behind the Scenes – Unang Hirit Guesting

We went to 4 restaurants all over Metro Manila to tape a segment featuring summer desserts usually served cold and that are now served warm in response to the colder weather.

The first restaurant we went to was this cute coffee place in Alabang Town Center called Milkbox. Their Sizzling Matcha Ice Cream was featured. The UH team interviewed staff from the restaurant to ask about how they came up with this dessert, they taped the “making” of the dessert, and finally, my role in this whole thing is as the “eater” and to comment on the desserts. 😀

Since I had no idea what I would be doing, the UH team was guiding me until I finally felt at ease enough to ad lib on my own. Yeah, there’s no script! Everything is ad lib. They were really nice and patient. We even did some skits that didn’t make it to the 2 and a half minute segment.

Next, we went to The Roadhouse Manila Bay behind MOA. Here, they featured the Halo-Halo Turon – the usual halo-halo ingredients stuffed into a turon.

For the third restaurant, we went to Wicked Kitchen, a stall inside Grub Hub in Visayas Ave in QC. UH featured their Nutella Sriracha Mango Crepe and their Skillet S’mores.

All I did was eat, and eat 😀 Haha. It’s nice when my role in the whole thing is just to eat food. Dessert overload! But, the camera adds 10 pounds! Hahahaha. Si kuya, puro double-chin angle ang kuha sa akin. Hahaha.

We also went to another restaurant in BF Homes, but it will be included in another segment for another day since they only usually do three restaurants per segment. I can’t reveal anything until after the segment has aired.

The restaurants are picked by a researcher, and the segment producer managed the taping, decided what to shoot, asked the interviewers questions, and even did the editing. Everyone, including the camera crew, were really nice and welcoming. Ang daldal namin! We spent a lot of time in traffic so the SP and I talked about so many topics. It was fun!

We took a lot of footage, and I realized that a lot of work goes into making a 2:30-minute segment. Imagine, all the footage we took over a couple of days – all finally edited, sped up or cut to fit 2 and a half minutes of air time.

Thank you to the GMA 7 Unang Hirit Team and to the restaurants who accommodated us. It was a fun adventure and a great experience! Hope to see you again soon!
