Extreme Power Efficiency “Power Saver” Device: First Month Result

Extreme Power Efficiency Device
We bought this Extreme Power Efficiency Device at the Ace Express (Ace Hardware inside SM Dept Store) last month during the SM Sta. Mesa 3-Day Sale. It was P1,999.75 minus the 10% OFF, minus another 10% OFF (this was all because of the 3-Day Sale) for a final net price of P1,620.00.

This is what it looks like:

I personally don’t believe that these types of products work, but na-sales talk Dad ko. And if we can cut even just 20% off of our electricity bill as opposed to the 35% claim, it would be worth it.

So despite my misgivings, we bought it. I read the instructions and it said to plug it ALONE into any wall socket and CANNOT be plugged beside high electricity consuming appliances like airconditioners, refrigerators, etc…

I plugged it into the wall socket of a room beside the kitchen (where our circuit breaker is) because the wall socket there is hardly used and nothing else is plugged into it. As you can see from the picture above, the plug can be turned sideways to accommodate whatever direction your wall socket is. The Extreme Power Efficiency Device must be plugged in vertically (nakatayo).

RESULT:

We got our Meralco bill today and I’m sad to say that our consumption even increased by about 10%. We didn’t have any major change in our electric consumption patterns, so I wasn’t expecting any change, and even expected our Meralco bill to drop because of the Extreme Power Efficiency Device.

I am disappointed but I am willing to give it another chance. So, one more month before I conclude that it’s useless? I will move it and plug it in our kitchen because that is where our circuit breaker is. Unfortunately we don’t have any free wall socket that doesn’t have something else plugged into it. The wall socket that is nearest to the circuit breaker has the refrigerator plugged in to it. The next nearest one is behind the stove (it might get hot there and be damaged by cooking spills). Another nearby wall socket has the oven toaster and coffee maker. I guess I’ll just have to plug it into the one beside the electric fan? Is that okay?

UPDATE (March 16, 2015): I’ve been told that the power saver has to be plugged into the same circuit as the aircon or refrigerator. Since we have subcircuits for different items, I’ll have to figure out where I should plug the power saver.

If someone has any suggestions on how to make this Extreme Power Efficiency Saver work, I would be so grateful if you can share it in the comments!

I think there is no such thing as “Power Efficiency Device” for residential use. There is even no endorsement from the experts like the IIEE (association of Electrical Engineers) or the electric cooperatives like MERALCO.
It’s purely packaging and sales talk. I suggest you ask the opinion of MERALCO if it really works.

Thanks, Mody! I’m still hoping 🙂 *cross fingers* I’m giving it one more chance.

I forgot we had a wall socket in the dirty kitchen that is very near the circuit breaker but just on the dirty kitchen side of the wall instead of inside the kitchen. I just plugged it there.

One more chance, just because I’ve read in comments and message boards how some people claimed that it really reduced their electricity bill by about 30%. So I hope they are not lying. Kaya one more chance. Kahit 15% lang yung bawas, I’ll be happy. The electricity rate in this country is so expensive!

Still testing. Our electricity bill increased for the April bill but we’re not sure if it’s because it’s summer so the ref & aircons are working harder. So we removed the Power Saver (akala namin walang silbi). Then for the next month (May bill) without the power saver wow sobrang tinaas ng Meralco bill, around 50%. So this month we plugged the power saver back in again. Still waiting for the next bill to see if there are any significant changes.

The power saver has to be plugged in to the same circuit as the appliances that are taking up the most electricity. Nag trial & error pa kami and we had to map out the different circuits.

I have the same device and bought 2 pcs because my electricity consumption exceeds 4k and above.( 1 pc if bill below 4k, and 2 pc if bill above 4k as per sales man) This works for me my electricity bill decrease 15 to 20%. Maybe Miss Barat Queen it just happen that the electricity charges during summer increases too. Also if your bill is above 4k, then you should try 2 pcs of it. (“,)

After having the power saver for a few months, I feel that it lowers the consumption by a few hundred pesos. The problem is our house wiring is divided into different subcircuits. So one circuit for the kitchen, another circuit for the living room, another circuit for each of the bedrooms. So when I put the power saver in the kitchen, it only reduces the consumption of the ref. I feel that it does help, pero wala pa akong proof talaga, feeling palang. Need to wait for latest bill to arrive to check.

But if it does help, I think we will be buying another one for the bedroom that uses the aircon the longest.

      Hi Jana,

Yes, feeling ko nakakatulong naman, pero konti lang. You have to check the circuits in the house to determine where best to put it, dapat same circuit ng appliance na malakas gumamit ng electricity, like ref, aircon, etc…

    Miss Barat Queen,
Nakabili din ako ng ganyan. Sa Handyman P1,700 ang bili ko. Last October 7, 2015. Almost 2 months ko palang na ginagamit wala naman akong napansin na pagbabago sa bill namin. Sa katunayan pa nga tumaas pa.

Sabi ng salesman, money back guarantee daw. So nung last week isasauli ko na sana binigyan nya ulit ako ng bago for another testing daw ulit until January 7. (paano ko matetest yun eh ang readings ng TARELCO ay sa January 12 pa lang)

Plaso ko 3 months … at nabalita pa sa news kaya ko isosoli. At original daw yung nabili ko kesa sa ibang power saver din!

Yes, ours is plugged in 24/7. But it is plugged in on its own, with nothing flammable near it (like curtains, etc…)

Try the TOKINA power surge protector. Its good for one refrigerator only. During brownouts/power outages its best to switch off main breaker.

Hi, gamit namin yung Extreme Power Saver v3 since 2013. Bought it from Ace Hardware for only 1,500 s (sale that time). Super effective. 20 to 35% changes sa bill namin since then.

My girllfriend is ECE, binuksan namin yung v3 kasi nagtataka ako kung anonang nasa loob ng device. We found out na madaming capacitor pala which is by principle ay totoong nakalapag pa stabilize ng flow ng kuryente. Walang sudden spike kumbaga once na binuksan or pumitik si meralco. Namiminimize din yung mga excess na kuryente.

Actually naghahanap ulit ako ngayon kaso wala na sa ace hardware. Pinagbawal daw ng meralco.
