Last Saturday, we attended a Zomato x SM Bicutan Food Crawl to check out the food places they have on offer. For foodies, we tried Silom Thai, which I recommend for their authentic but affordably priced Thai food! To cap off the food crawl, we had milk tea at Serenitea.
This was the second to the last stop of our SM Bicutan Food Crawl. It is located at the Upper Ground Floor, Mall B, SM Bicutan.
Silom Thai was small and can seat maybe 20 – 25 diners, but the decor and warm ambience looks very classy. However, a quick check of the prices showed that the dishes are not as expensive as you’d expect from the fancy interiors.

We tried the Tom Yum Goong (P220), which was very aromatic with the flavors of lemongrass, coriander and spicy with chilis and galangal. Recommended!
I also really liked the Chicken Pandan (P255, 5 pcs) which was actually not dry, despite how it looks. It was smoky, not sweet, and fragrant with pandan.
PAD THAI IS THE BEST! However, the dish that I will be going back for is Silom’s Pad Thai. Every bite of Silom’s Pad Thai brought me back to when I “backpacked” Thailand years ago. Silom’s Pad Thai is sweet, just the way I remember eating it in the streets of Bangkok with sugar, ground peanuts and chili powder on the side. Many of the pad thais offered here in Manila are more on the salty side, rather than the sweet pad thai that I remember. Silom’s Pad Thais also have that smoky “wok hay” flavor that is a must for real stir fry noodles. I am SO SO HAPPY that I found authentic-tasting pad thai at Silom!
And the kicker? The Vegetarian Pad Thai is only P170 per order, while the Chicken Pad Thai is only P190. For some reason, the Vegetarian Pad Thai tasted slightly better than the Chicken, but both were still quite delicious!
I would go to Silom just to eat their Pad Thais – they are that good at very reasonable prices!
We also got to try the Bagoong Rice (P170), and the Vegetable Fresh Spring Rolls (P135), which were also good, but my heart was already won by the Pad Thais.
For dessert, we had the Mango Sticky Rice (P115) – I am not usually a fan of sticky rice desserts, but this was a wonderful dish. The sticky rice was sweet, soft and creamy with coconut milk, and was a perfect pair with mangoes.
The flavors at Silom Thai are authentic Thai and are not “Filipinized”. The food is very good, and the prices reasonable. If you are in the area and love Thai food, definitely check out Silom Thai! I was told the people behind Silom Thai are also the same ones behind my other favorite Thai restaurant, Tamarind at SM Aura. No wonder! Haha 😀
This was the last leg of our Zomato Food Crawl at SM Bicutan. I just always go back to ordering my default Wintermelon Milk Tea at 100% sweetness with Pearl. J ordered the Choco Royal Milk Tea.
Serenitea’s Wintermelon Milk Tea had the deep tea flavor that I always associate with good milk tea – it’s not so much a flavor as a smooth smell/sensation at the back of your nose. The wintermelon added another caramelly sweetness. The pearls were perfectly chewy.
The Choco Royal Milk Tea was actually quite good, too. Chocolate and milk tea actually do combine together rather well to make something delicious. It is a semi-deep chocolate flavor with that milk tea aroma/finish.
The place is rather small, with a few tables outside for customers. However, I liked the decor inside – semi-industrial chic.
Serenitea SM Bicutan is one of those places where you find yourself going to by default when you want to drink something to quench your thirst while malling – they have many flavors to choose from and you can also customize your sugar levels, too – a good choice to go to even for the pickiest of us.
